Two Pilots forum / Digital photo software / Trying to paste HTML into "comment" EXIF tag
Author Message
# Posted: 26 Feb 2008 23:23

I am trying to paste HTML (Paypal Button) into the comment EXIF tag of my photos. It will only take one line without the new line (carriage return, paragraph or whatever is creating the new line). I MUST use the comment tag. No other tag can be read by the program I am using.

Hello Carl,

What program did you mean in your message?

If it is the Exif Pilot software, please write the string which you are trying to paste in the comment tag.

It is indeed Exif Pilot Pro and here is the string

<form action="" method="post">
<input type="hidden" name="cmd" value="_xclick">
<input type="hidden" name="business" value="">
<input type="hidden" name="item_name" value="Cockspur Light 24&quot;x28&quot; Limited Edition Giclee Print">
<input type="hidden" name="amount" value="400.00">
<input type="hidden" name="shipping" value="65.00">
<input type="hidden" name="no_shipping" value="0">
<input type="hidden" name="no_note" value="1">
<input type="hidden" name="currency_code" value="USD">
<input type="hidden" name="lc" value="US">
<input type="hidden" name="bn" value="PP-BuyNowBF">
<input type="image" src=" _SM.gif" border="0" name="submit" alt="Make payments with PayPal - it's fast, free and secure!">
<img alt="" border="0" src="" width="1" height="1">

The comment editbox is single-line edit control. It is not a multiline edit control. You can't input multiline string. Use the string without new line symbol, i.e. "<form action="" method="post"> <input type="hidden" name="cmd" value="_xclick"> <input type="hidden" name="business" value=""> ..."

think there is some work on writing XMP directly. What I was thinking is all the EXIF and IPTC data in image files (JPEG, TIFF, RAW (pick your extension here... DNG, NEF, etc.)). If Leap could read these metadata types (which aren't XMP specific - ie. they are present in files with no XMP metadta) it would be a real plus for photographers/artists/asset managers.

Without opening Aperture/Photoshop/etc. I could bookmark all image files that are:
sRGB/300dpi/(keyword)"stones"/14mm/ISO 50/(city)Belfast...
The first three items could be pulled from XMP (for this example,though Keywords are not necessarily XMP), the fourth and fifth from EXIF, and the last from IPTC Status "City". There's a lot of data that could be read and used here.

Also consider there are users that may not have or need Lightroom,etc. An Asset Manager may not edit shots, he may just keep track of, vend, etc. files for a company. This info could even be posted to a networked Leap database for everyone to use.
