How to create sound schemes for Sound Pilot

Sound Pilot lets you play sounds using a computer keyboard. This step-by-step instructions show you how to assign sounds to your letter keys and to other keys of your keyboard.

You can create your own sound schemes by setting different sounds for different buttons on your keyboard. Find wav-sounds on your computer or on the Internet, record your voice … use your fantasy!

1. Make sure you have installed Sound Pilot.

2. In the folder C:\Program Files\Sound Pilot\Schemes create a new folder with the name of your scheme, for example MyScheme.

3. From the folder C:\Program Files\Sound Pilot\Schemes copy in the folder template file configuration of sound scheme SchemeTemplate.txt and rename it to Scheme.txt.

4. Add in your folder wav files.

5. Edit the file Scheme.txt. For each key you need to assign wav file name. Examples of sound scheme settings you can find in the other sound schemes.

The command CHARS= assigns a sound to all letter keys at once. If a certain letter key should sound different, you can assign it a different sound, for example: M=key01.wav. For those letter keys that are not defined by individual commands, the sound set by the command CHARS= will play by default.

The command DIGITS= assigns a sound to all digit keys on the regular keyboard as well as on the numeric keypad (the number pad in the right section of the keyboard) at once. If a certain digit key should sound different, you can assign it a different sound, for example:

  • For digit 5 on the regular keyboard: D5=key02.wav.
  • For digit 5 on the numeric keyboard: NUMPAD5=key02.wav.

For those digit keys that are not defined by individual commands, the sound set by the command DIGITS= will play by default.

The command FUNCS= assigns a sound to all keys F1-F12 at once. If a certain F key should sound different, you can assign it a different sound, for example, for key F3: F3=key03.wav. For those F keys that are not defined by individual commands, the sound set by the command FUNCS= will play by default.
