How to export data from Form Pilot Office database to Excel spreadsheet?

To export your data from Form Pilot Office database to Excel spreadsheet, please do the following:

1. Export your database from Form Pilot Office to a text file or to a .DBF file.

- If you export your data to a text file, first you need to create a text file template. This template should be of a certain format, for instance:

"first name";"last name";"age"
"John";"Smith";"30"
"Jessica";"Lee";"25"

The first line contains names of the fields of your database. Next lines are not necessary until you enter any data to a database.

- If you export your data to a .DBF file, first you need to create a .DBF spreadsheet. This spreadsheet should have string fields.

2. Open this file in Microsoft Excel. Now you can save your file as .XLS.

Can I import the data from my Excel spreadsheet into the Form Pilot Office document database?

Yes, just convert your Microsoft Excel file to a .DBF file, then import the data from it. To do this:

1. Open your spreadsheet in Microsoft Excel.

2. Save it as a DBF4 file (DBase IV) by choosing menu File | Save As...

Please note:

  • The fields in the .DBF file are named accordingly with the first line of the Excel spreadsheet, therefore if one doesn't exist you need to create it prior to importing.

  • The current version of Form Pilot Office can only import text fields. To import a spreadsheet containing numerical fields as well you have to create a special line (probably in the end of the document, so that you can easily delete it when the import procedure is done) containing text in every column, so that no column is skipped while importing the spreadsheet.

3. Launch Form Pilot Office and import the data from the .DBF file you've just saved as shown.
